The Sting have placed guard/forward Allison Feaster on the Injured List with round ligament pain and activated guard Caity Matter.
Feaster, who is pregnant with her first child, is expected to miss the remainder of the season due to the round ligament pain.
This is an exciting time for Allison and her husband, said Sting General Manager and Head Coach Trudi Lacey. She has been a significant contributor this season and while we will certainly miss her leadership and on-court presence, the Charlotte Sting fully supports her and eagerly anticipates her formidable return in 2006.
In 2005, Feaster started 21 games for the Sting, averaging 9.1 points and 2.4 assists in 31.7 minutes. She also currently ranks seventh among WNBA leaders with a three-point field goal percentage of .430 (37-86).
"My husband and I are three months pregnant and blessed with our first child due early next year. After continually experiencing discomfort while playing, we decided it was in the best interest of our baby to discontinue playing for the remainder of the season, said Feaster. My heart is still very much a part of the Sting, and while I can no longer be on the court, I will support the team in every way possible. I would like to thank my teammates and coaching staff, the Charlotte Sting Organization, and, most importantly, the fans for their support and understanding during this joyous moment for my family."
Matter has appeared in one game with the Sting after signing as a free agent on July 6. Matter also participated in training camp with the Sting before being waived on May 20.
