Silver Stars Trade For Scholanda Robinson

SAN ANTONIO (May 2, 2011) � The San Antonio Silver Stars have signed five-year WNBA veteran Scholanda Robinson, head coach and general manager Dan Hughes announced today. The Silver Stars acquire Robinson from the Tulsa Shock in exchange for its second and third round draft picks in 2012. As per team policy, terms of the contract were not disclosed.

Robinson had her best career offensive season in 2010, ranking second on the Shock with 11.9 points per game while adding 2.4 rebounds and 1.7 assists while starting 33 games and averaging 24.6 minutes per contest. She ranked eighth in the league in steals per 40 minutes (2.5) and 11th in steals per game (1.6) last season.

�We are pleased to add Scholanda to the Silver Stars,� Hughes said. �She is an excellent defender with three-point range and coming off her career best offensive year. She advances our off season moves to add youthful athletic energy to our returning core.�

Originally selected by the Sacramento Monarchs in the first round (14th overall) of the 2006 WNBA Draft, Robinson has averaged 7.3 points per game with 1.5 rebounds per contest in 164 career games. She was selected seventh overall by the Tulsa Shock in the 2009 WNBA Dispersal Draft.

The Louisiana State alumni began the 2011 offseason playing for the Turkish club Mersin where she averaged 13.0 points and 4.7 rebounds per game.
