CANDACE PARKER UNDERGOES SUCCESSFUL KNEE SURGERY

LOS ANGELES The Los Angeles Sparks announced that forward Candace Parker underwent successful surgery this morning on her left knee at Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Center in Los Angeles.

Parkers surgery repaired her lateral meniscus and she is expected to undergo rehabilitation over the next four to six weeks while continuing rehab on her shoulder.

Im so happy to have been able to have this surgery, said Parker. I had my shoulder repaired in June and now my knee is taken care of. I feel great and am looking forward to my rehab as I prepare to play my first completely healthy WNBA season in 2011.

In 10 games played in 2010, Parker, the 2008 WNBA MVP & Rookie of the Year, led the Sparks in scoring and rebounding averaging 20.6 points and 10.1 rebounds.
