Sparks Announce Broadcast Agreement With KLAC Radio 570 and KWKU Radio 1220

El Segundo, CA, April 16 -- The Los Angeles Sparks and KLAC Radio 570 announced today that they have reached an agreement to broadcast thirteen non-televised Los Angeles Sparks road games, delayed weekdays to 7 P.M. for any games that precede that time. The Sparks also reached an agreement with KWKU Radio 1220 to broadcast nine Sparks home games beginning June 1 against the Seattle Storm.

We are proud to welcome KLAC and KWKU to the Los Angeles Sparks family, said Keith Harris, Sparks Executive Director/Multimedia Marketing. Both stations are instrumental in creating an enthusiastic following in the community and their support is invaluable.

The broadcast coverage on KLAC Radio 570 and KWKU Radio 1220 in combination with local and national cable telecasts of Los Angeles Sparks games represents that every Los Angeles Sparks game will be available in some form during the 2004 season.

The Los Angeles Sparks also announced that Larry Burnett, Sparks play-by-play announcer, returns for an eighth season as the voice of the Los Angeles Sparks, and his third season as the Sparks television announcer. Anne Meyers-Drysdale will return for a seventh season as the Sparks Television Color Commentator.

Burnett, a familiar face in television and radio sports broadcasting, has played a prominent role in Southern California sports for over twelve years. He has hosted pre-game television shows for the Los Angeles Lakers, Dodgers, Clippers and Kings. Burnett has also moderated pre and post game radio shows for the Lakers and Angels.

Meyers-Drysdale is best known for her role as a pioneer in the first generation of high profile womens basketball players. She is a sports legend in her own right, with a stunning resume of athletic firsts.

The Los Angeles Sparks regular season will begin on the road May 22 against Seattle at 7:00 p.m. (PDT) and will be broadcast on KLAC Radio 570. The first national television appearance of the season will be a rematch of the 2003 WNBA Finals against the Detroit Shock May 29 at 1:00 p.m. (PDT) on ABC. Los Angeles Sparks fans can also tune into the first Fox Sports West 2 broadcast on June 9 at 7:30 p.m. (PDT) and watch the Sparks battle the Charlotte Sting.

The Los Angeles Sparks will play their sole home preseason game vs. the New York Liberty at the Pyramid at Long Beach State University on May 08 at 7:00 p.m. (PDT). The first of seventeen home games at STAPLES Center will see the Sparks take on the Seattle Storm June 1 at 7:30 p.m. (PDT).
