Sky Signs Carrie Moore to Training Camp Contract, Moeggenberg to Sit Out in ’08
Moore, a 5�9� guard, was signed by the Phoenix Mercury to a training camp contract after the 2007 WNBA Pre-Draft Camp. She played in two pre-season games, averaging 8.5 points and 2.0 assists. She spent the 2007-08 off-season playing in Poland for AZS Gorzow, where she averaged 10.7 points and 3.1 rebounds per game.
Moore is a 2007 graduate of Western Michigan University, where she averaged 25.4 points per game, scoring 30 or more in 11 games. She was named the 2007 All-Mid-American Conference Player of the Year and to the First Team All-MAC in 2006 and 2007, as well as the 2007 MAC All-Academic. Moore was also the first WMU player to be named to ESPN The Magazine�s All-District First Team.
Moeggenberg was selected by the Phoenix Mercury 18th overall in the 2006 WNBA draft, then traded with the 21st pick to Houston for Ann Strother, the 15th pick. She was acquired by the Sky on May 12, 2006 in a trade with the Comets. In 2007, Moeggenberg played in 23 games and averaged 1.6 points and 1.3 rebounds per game, and is currently playing overseas in France.
The Sky did not renew Assistant Coach Roger Reding�s contract for the 2008 season. Reding joined the Sky in February 2006, and was previously the assistant women�s basketball coach at Texas Tech University for 16 years.
