Birmingham, MI -- November 10 -- Talk about a proud father. Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer has raised his daughter, coached her, and now watched her sign a letter of intent to play Division I Womens College Basketball at Syracuse University. Keri Laimbeer, a 6-1 center at Birmingham Detroit Country Day, today made it official that she will be a member of the Orange and play for coach Keith Cieplicki.

Im very excited about signing today, the younger Laimbeer told detroitshock.com before the scheduled 12:45 p.m. signing. I chose Syracuse because of their great academics, more specifically their communications program. I want to go into broadcasting.

Hmmm. Basketball and Broadcasting. Like Father, Like Daughter?

Syracuse has a great atmosphere, its not so big and I got along great with the coaches and players (on my visit). Most of all, Im excited about the academics, Laimbeer added.

Its a busy week for Laimbeer and her teammates at Birmingham Detroit Country Day. As the two-time defending Class B champs look to start their bid for a three-peat on Monday in the playoffs after compiling an 18-1 regular season record, three other members of the squad will also sign today with Division I Womens Basketball programs. Kristen Morris, a 6-2 forward/center, will sign with Louisiana State, while the Country Day star backcourt of Latisha Luckett (Central Michigan) and Tiera Delahoussaye (Western Michigan), will stay in their home state.
