Shock Head Coach Bill Laimbeer
Detroit Shock head coach Bill Laimbeer, along with this season's seven other playoff head coaches plus ESPN analysts Doris Burke and Linda Cohn, discussed the upcoming postseason during a conference call with the WNBA on Tuesday, August 15. The second-seeded Detroit Shock take on the third-seeded Indiana Fever in the first round of the 2006 WNBA Playoffs, beginning Thursday, August 17 at 7 p.m. (ESPN2).

Shock Guard Kedra Holland-Corn
Shock Head Coach and Director of Player Personnel Bill Laimbeer announced that the Shock signed former guard Kedra Holland-Corn to a two-year contract. Holland-Corn's most memorable performance with the Shock may have come in Game 2 of the 2003 WNBA Finals. Trailing by four late in the game, after losing a 19-point lead, Holland-Corn drilled a three to pull the Shock within one. Shock Guard Katie Smith
Katie Smith joined Deanna Nolan in the Detroit Shock's back court on July 30 when she was acquired from the Minnesota Lynx. In 13 games for Detroit, Smith averaged 9.5 points and 2.0 assists per game. The 2004 Olympic gold medalist finished fourth in the WNBA in Three-Point Field Goals Made with 53 and seventh in Minutes Played (1160.0). Shock Forward Kara Braxton
In 2005, the Detroit Shock selected Kara Braxton with the 7th overall pick in the WNBA draft. In the 2005 season, Braxton averaged 6.9 points, 3.0 rebounds in 13.8 minutes per game and shot 46.2% from the field. During the offseason, Braxton played basketball with Wisla Can-Pack Krakow in Poland. She has since completed her obligation there and is currently exploring her options with regards to other overseas opportunities. Shock Guard Deanna Nolan
Deanna "Tweety" Nolan was home for the holidays and attended the Detroit Pistons game on Christmas Day. Nolan is currently playing basketball overseas for Anda Ramat Hasharon in Israel. Nolan and Shock teammate Cheryl Ford are playing well and have their team atop the standings.
