Quarles attended the University of Virginia, and the Phoenix Mercury made her the fourth pick (No. 31 Overall) in the 2003 WNBA Draft. The Shock acquired Quarles, along with Petra Ujhelyi, on April 28, 2003 from the Mercury in exchange for Edwina Brown and Lenae Williams. She never played a regular season game in the WNBA as Detroit waived her on May 13, 2003.
