2009 WNBA Finals Attendance Sets All-Time Record

PHOENIX, Oct. 9, 2009 � Total attendance for the 2009 WNBA Finals presented by adidas featuring the Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever was 82,018, establishing a new all-time WNBA Finals record. In addition, tonight�s sell-out crowd of 17,313 for the fifth-and-deciding game at US Airways Center in Phoenix marked the third consecutive sellout in this series. Games 3 and 4 at Conseco Fieldhouse in Indianapolis hosted sell-out crowds of 18,165.

Year-to-year, average attendance for the 2009 WNBA Finals was up 43.3% vs. 2008 (16,404 vs. 11,448) and was the highest average attendance for a Finals series in six years (16,729 in 2003).

Overall, average attendance for the 2009 WNBA Playoffs increased 18.5% increase over 2008 (9,979 vs. 8,420).
