Minnesota's Moore, Chicago's Delle Donne Named WNBA Western and Eastern Conference Players of the Week

NEW YORK, Aug. 12, 2013 -- Elena Delle Donne of the Chicago Sky and Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx were named the WNBA�s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for games played Monday, Aug. 5 through Sunday, Aug. 11.

Delle Donne ranked third in the East in scoring, averaging 21.0 points as Chicago went 2-1. The rookie tied atop the WNBA in three point field goal percentage with .750 (9-for-12).

In a return from injury on Aug. 6, Delle Donne scored 12 points and grabbed two rebounds in a losing effort against Indiana, 64-58. On Aug. 9 in Connecticut, she set a new personal season high in three-point field goals made with four. Delle Donne scored 19 points in the 77-61 victory while also pulling down nine boards, her second-best rebounding effort this season. Delle Donne played a pivotal role on Aug. 11, as the Sky took down Minnesota, owner of the WNBA�s best record. Her fourth three-pointer of the game tied the score at 79 with 4.5 seconds remaining in regulation. In the extra session, Delle Donne scored five points to lead the Sky to a 94-86 win as she reached the 30-point plateau for the first time in her career. She also went 10-for-10 from the free-throw line while blocking four shots to tie a season high.

Moore led the West in scoring last week with 23.0 ppg and averaged a league-best 3.33 steals. On Aug. 6, Moore tied a season high with 26 points in a 93-80 road win over San Antonio. She also grabbed 10 rebounds, dished out a season-best six assists and came away with three steals. The win extended Minnesota�s winning streak to 10 games, the third-longest in franchise history and the longest in the WNBA this season. Two days later in a 79-75 loss to Washington, Moore scored 24 points to go with three assists and tied a season high with four steals. Against Chicago on Aug. 11, Moore scored 19 points, pulled down six rebounds, dished out four assists and grabbed three steals.

Other candidates for WNBA Players of the Week were Atlanta�s Angel McCoughtry, New York�s Cappie Pondexter and Washington�s Crystal Langhorne in the East, as well as Tulsa�s Elizabeth Cambage and Los Angeles� Jantel Lavender in the West
