Indiana's Katie Douglas and Minnesota's Rebekkah Brunson Named Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week

NEW YORK, June 13, 2011 � Katie Douglas of the Indiana Fever and Rebekkah Brunson of the Minnesota Lynx were named the league�s Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for regular season games played Friday, June 3 through Sunday, June 12.

While leading the Fever to a 2-1 record, Douglas ranked first in the WNBA in scoring with 21.0 points per game, in addition to a league-high 10 three-point field goals.

Her 27 points against New York on June 10 included a career-high and franchise record-tying six three-point field goals. A career 42% shooter from the floor overall, Douglas shot 54.5% from the field in the three games played, and her mark of 52.6% from beyond the three-point arc ranks second in the WNBA among players with at least 15 attempts.

Douglas is one steal away from becoming the first player in league history to eclipse plateaus for 500 three-point field goals and 500 steals.

Brunson finished first in the league in rebounding, averaging 14.0 rebounds, and second in field-goal percentage at 64.1%. She also averaged 14.8 points per game while leading the Lynx to a 3-1 record.

The seven-year veteran registered a double-double in four consecutive games, highlighted by 17 points and 15 rebounds in a victory over Tulsa on June 7, and 22 points and 14 rebounds over the defending champion Seattle Storm on June 9, snapping the Storm�s 18-game regular season home winning streak. In addition, Brunson matched a career-high by dealing four assists in the season opener on June 3 against the Los Angeles Sparks.

Other candidates for WNBA Player of the Week were Atlanta�s Erika de Souza, Chicago�s Sylvia Fowles, Los Angeles�s Candace Parker, New York�s Plenette Pierson, San Antonio�s Danielle Adams, Tulsa�s Elizabeth Cambage, and Washington�s Crystal Langhorne.
