NBA TV and ESPN UK to Deliver WNBA's Atlanta Dream vs. Team Great Britain to Transatlantic Audience

NEW YORK and LONDON, May 26, 2011 � A transatlantic television audience will witness the first WNBA game to be played in Europe when NBA TV and ESPN team up to present the Women�s National Basketball Association�s (WNBA) Atlanta Dream against The Standard Life Great Britain Women�s basketball team on Sunday, May 29 at 5 p.m. BST/12 p.m. EDT. In the U.S., NBA TV will televise the game live, while ESPN will televise the game live throughout the UK. Only the second WNBA game to be played outside of the United States, the match will be held at the Manchester Evening News Arena (MEN) as part of WNBA Live � Manchester 2011.

Daniel Routledge will serve as the play-by-play announcer, while former Head Coach of the Great Britain Senior Women�s Team and veteran broadcaster Mark Clark will provide color commentary for the telecast. The game will be presented to more than 55 million homes in the United States through NBA TV, the National Basketball Association�s 24-hour television network, and to UK viewers on ESPN, the signature television channel launched in 2009. The Atlanta Dream made the WNBA Playoffs the past two seasons and reached the 2010 WNBA Finals in only its third year in the league. Led by forward Angel McCoughtry, the 2009 WNBA Rookie of the Year, the Dream ranked as the WNBA�s top scoring team (95.5 ppg.) last season. Other marquee Dream players include Iziane Catsro Marques, who averaged a career-high 16.9 points last season, and Sancho Lyttle, who averaged 9.9 rebounds, third most in the WNBA. Founded in 1996, the WNBA is the world�s longest-running women�s professional sports league.

The Standard Life GB Women, who will be making their first Olympic appearance in 2012 when London hosts the Summer Games, enjoyed a successful summer in 2011 when they qualified for EuroBasketball 2011 for the first time. The team is led by Jo Leedham, who was drafted by the WNBA�s Connecticut Sun in 2010.

WNBA Live � Manchester 2011 is part of the multiyear partnership between the Manchester City Council, the NBA, WNBA, and USA Basketball that will give basketball fans in Manchester the opportunity to attend live games in the city. Along with the WNBA game and the USA Basketball games scheduled for July 2012, the partnership will also bring the first-ever NBA preseason game to Manchester in the autumn of 2013, marking the first time an NBA team has played outside of London in the UK.
