Chicago Sky Selects Monique Currie in Dispersal Draft

NEW YORK, Jan. 8, 2007 - The Chicago Sky selected Monique Currie with the first pick in the WNBA Dispersal Draft of Charlotte Sting players held via conference call today. Teams drafted in inverse order of their regular-season finish in 2006.

The Minnesota Lynx chose Tangela Smith with the second pick while the New York Liberty took Janel McCarville with the third selection. The San Antonio Silver Stars selected Helen Darling and the Phoenix Mercury took Kelly Mazzante to round out the top five picks.

Two Sting players, center Tammy Sutton-Brown and guard/forward Allison Feaster, are unrestricted free agents and were therefore not available for selection in the Dispersal Draft. They may begin negotiating with any team once the free agency period begins on January 15.
