2003 All-WNBA First Team and 2003 All-WNBA Second Team Presented by Bud Light Announced

NEW YORK, September 14, 2003 � Lauren Jackson of the Seattle Storm headlines the 2003 All-WNBA First Team presented by Bud Light, marking her first-ever appearance. Jackson�s Storm teammate Sue Bird joins Indiana Fever forward Tamika Catchings for the second straight year along with five-time recipient, Los Angeles Sparks center Lisa Leslie and Katie Smith of the Minnesota Lynx, named for the second time. Jackson received the most votes with 256, followed by Catchings (234), Leslie (223), Smith (229) and Bird (164).

The 2003 All-WNBA Second Team presented by Bud Light features rookie sensation Cheryl Ford of the Detroit Shock at center (56 points) along with her teammates, forward Swin Cash (142) and guard Deanna Nolan (63). Rounding out the Second Team were Sheryl Swoopes of the Houston Comets (160) at forward and Nikki Teasley of the Los Angeles Sparks (145) at guard.

Each All-WNBA player will receive a Tiffany-designed trophy. In addition, Bud Light will present $10,000 to each member of the First Team and $5,000 to each member of the Second Team.

Players named to the 2003 All-WNBA First and Second Teams were selected by position from a panel of national sportswriters and broadcasters, with First Team votes receiving five points and Second Team votes receiving three.
