2006 WESTERN CONFERENCE CHAMPION SACRAMENTO MONARCHS ACQUIRE ADRIAN WILLIAMS FROM MINNESOTA IN EXCHANGE FOR 2007 SECOND ROUND DRAFT PICK

Adrian Williams - Allen Einstein/NBAE/Getty ImagesSACRAMENTO, CALIF., Feb. 14 , 2007� The Sacramento Monarchs today announced that the organization acquired Adrian Williams from the Minnesota Lynx in exchange for the Monarchs 2007 second round draft pick.

The 6�4� post was originally selected by the Phoenix Mercury in the second round (21st overall) of the 2000 WNBA Draft. On July 19, 2004, the Phoenix Mercury traded her to San Antonio. Most recently she signed with Minnesota on February 1, 2006. Williams is currently playing overseas in Salamanca, Spain for Perfumerias Avenida with Monarchs guard Nicole Powell.

Through her six seasons in the WNBA Williams is averaging 5.4 points, 4.4 rebounds, 0.6 assists, 1.0 steals, 0.39 blocks and 18.6 minutes per game. Last year with the Lynx, Williams averaged 4.9 points (.448 FG%), 4.7 rebounds, 0.2 assists, 0.78 steals, 0.25 blocks and 15.2 minutes per game.

The 2006 WNBA Western Conference Champion Sacramento Monarchs will host the Los Angeles Sparks in their Home Opener on Saturday, June 2, at 7 p.m., at ARCO Arena, in a rematch of the 2006 WNBA Western Conference Finals. Sacramento begins the season with their first four games on the road, including the WNBA season opener against the 2006 WNBA Champion Detroit Shock on Saturday, May 19, at 12:30 p.m. PDT.
