Edna Campbell Coaches Celebrity Team in Breast Health Awareness Celebrity Game
For the second consecutive year, the Women�s National Basketball Association (WNBA) and Sears teamed-up to host the Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Celebrity Game to help raise awareness about breast cancer and funds to benefit the National Alliance of Breast Cancer Organizations (NABCO�). This year, Sears surpassed its pledge to donate $1 million to NABCO and the final donation was announced at the game.

The event, which is part of the Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Initiative, took place Friday, October 11 at Crossroads School in Santa Monica, California at 7:30 p.m.

Breast cancer survivor Edna Campbell of the Sacramento Monarchs joined WNBA Championship MVP and Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Initiative spokesperson Lisa Leslie of the Los Angeles Sparks, to serve as coaches for the celebrity teams. Ticha Penicheiro of the Sacramento Monarchs also attended the event.

David Arquette (Scream Trilogy), Jason Gedrick (Boomtown, The Last Don), Brian Austin Green (Resurrection Blvd., Beverly Hills 90120) and Bill Bellamy (Fastlane, The Brothers) will join multi-platinum and Grammy-winning Rapper Coolio, music stars Drew Lachey (98 Degrees), Joey McIntyre (Boston Public), and other celebrities from music, movies and television at the 2002 Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Celebrity Game. Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day) will serve as a celebrity coach and Chi McBride (Boston Public) and La La (MTV�s TRL, Direct Effect) will co-host and emcee the game. Celebrity teams will be announced at a later date.

Other stars attending and participating in half-time and time-out activities with fans include Camryn Manheim (The Practice), Peter Bergman (The Young and the Restless), Melissa Joan Hart (Sabrina, The Teenage Witch), Marg Helgenberger (C.S.I. Crime Scene Investigation), Linda Cardellini (Scooby-Doo, Freaks and Geeks) and Mike �Boogie� Malin (Big Brother 2).

Players for the game included celebrities who compete in the NBA Entertainment League. Since 1999, the NBA Entertainment League, an invitation-only private basketball league for celebrities and entertainment industry executives, has attracted some of Hollywood�s most elite names.

The Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Initiative works to increase awareness about the importance of good breast health and raises funds for NABCO. At the game, Sears, the WNBA and the celebrities will present NABCO with a final 2002 donation based on this year�s fund-raising efforts. Sears has pledge to donate $1 million over three years to NABCO. Last year, the Sears WNBA Breast Health Awareness Initiative raised $377,872 for NABCO.

A record 2,362,430 fans attended WNBA games this season, with an average of 9,220 fans attending each game, up from 9,075 last year.
