Monica Wright Named EuroLeague Player of the Week

Wednesday
USK Praha (Lindsay Whalen) 73, Spartak 72
Looking for its first win of the 2010-11 EuroLeague campaign, USK Praha hosted Russian powerhouse Spartak Moscow on Wednesday. In a tightly contested battle that went right down to the wire, Lindsay Whalen and company prevailed in the final minutes, taking a 73-72 decision. With the Czech side up by three, Whalen came up with a big steal with just over a minute left to help Praha to victory. The Lynx guard finished with 16 points, 7 rebounds and 3 assists.

With the win, Praha finds themselves tied with four teams for third place in Group C.

Galatasaray (Seimone Augustus) 82, VICI Aistes 58
A 47-24 halftime advantage fueled Turkish side Galatasaray to an 82-58 home win over VICI Aistes on Wednesday. Seimone Augustus tallied 16 points (6-of-11 shooting) in the win. In three EuroLeague games, Augustus is averaging 14.3 points per game.

TTT Riga (Quanitra Hollingsworth) 60, Good Angels Kosice (Charde Houston) 77
In a battle between Lynx posts, Charde Houston�s squad got the best of Quanitra Hollingsworth�s side Wednesday afternoon in Latvia. Houston�s game-high 27 points (21 in the first half) were enough as the Slovakian club Kosice defeated Riga, 77-60. Hollingsworth just missed a double-double, totaling 9 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals in 33 minutes.

With the win, Kosice improves to 2-1 in EuroLeague play, while Riga drops to 0-3.

Facing a 40-43 halftime deficit, Spanish powerhouse Ros Casares remained undefeated, rallying for a 76-67 road win over Beretta-Famila on Wednesday. Ros used a 22-6 third-quarter run to take command of the contest. Lynx forward Rebekkah Brunson double-doubled with 20 points and 11 rebounds for Ros. In three EuroLeague games, Brunson is averaging 18.0 points and 9.7 rebounds per game. Nicky Anosike, starting for the first time, had 5 points and 5 rebounds in 22 minutes.

Lotos Gdynia (Monica Wright) 90, Gospic Croatia 88
Searching for its first win of the EuroLeague season, Lotos Gdynia matched up with fellow winless side Gospic Croatia on Thursday. Trailing 82-85 with just over three minutes to go, Gdynia went on a 8-3 run to take the win, 90-88. Lynx rookie Monica Wright had the best game in her short overseas career, scoring a game-high 26 points (12-of-23 FG), 7 rebounds and 5 assists in 37 minutes. Wright�s performance earned her EuroLeague Player of the Week honors for week 3.
