Career Highlights: One of the WNBA�s original players. assigned to the New York Liberty, along with Teresa Weatherspoon, in the WNBA�s first player allocations on January 22, 1997. spent first five years of her career with New York. Acquired by the Comets from the New York Liberty in exchange for Houston�s second-round selection (26th overall) in the 2002 WNBA Draft. Voted as a member of the first-ever WNBA Eastern Conference All-Star Team in 1999 held at Madison Square Garden (did not play due to injury). Was named to the All-WNBA Second Team in 1997.
2001: Battling back from a torn anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her left knee the past two years, re-emerged on the scene during the 2001 campaign � overall, appeared in 16 games (all off the bench) and averaged 1.1 points while shooting .318 (7-22 FGA) � scored her first basket in two years at Cleveland on June 7 � scored a season-high nine points with five rebounds in a victory at Phoenix on June 21 � placed on the injured list August 10.
2000: Missed the entire 2000 season with torn ACL in her left knee.
1999: Suffered a torn ACL in her left knee during the first minute of play against the Cleveland Rockers in the season�s opening game on June 10 � she missed the rest of the season, including the playoffs � underwent successful surgery on July 1 � was progressing well with her rehabilitation until suffering a complete tear of the reconstructed ligament on December 12 � underwent surgery to reconstruct the ligament again on December 15.
1998: Started all 30 games with New York, averaging 11.7 points, 6.9 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks � led New York in shooting percentage (.484), rebounding (6.9 rpg) and blocked shots (1.10 bpg) � notched a team-high five double-doubles, topped the team in rebounding 14 times and led the team in scoring on three occasions.
1997:
All-WNBA Second Team � averaged 12.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, 1.8 blocks
and 1.9 assists in 28 starts � led the team in rebounding 15 times, scoring
eight times and assists once in her first season with Liberty � also posted
four double-doubles in the regular season to go along with her two 20+ scoring
games and five 10+ rebounding games.

Personal:
Born Rebecca Rose Lobo on October 6, 1973, in Hartford, Connecticut. Teamed up
with New York Knicks All-Star Guard Allan Houston for 1998 Nestl� Crunch
All-Star 2Ball at the 1998 NBA All-Star Weekend. Was named one of the 1998 USA
Weekend�s Most Caring Athletes in recognition of the charitable work she
has done. Co-wrote a daughter-mother autobiography called The Home Team, about
the special relationship she has with her mother, RuthAnn, and about RuthAnn�s
battle with breast cancer. Loves to write and hopes to put out another book someday.
In October 2001, launched the RuthAnn and Rebecca Lobo Scholarship in Allied Health
at the University of Connecticut. Scholarship encourages more diversity in the
health care professions and will expand opportunities for young Hispanics and
African Americans. Very active in numerous organizations that support breast cancer
research and awareness
also involved in the Pediatric AIDS Foundation, the
Children�s Miracle Network and the Hispanic Scholarship Fund. Has a brother,
Jason, and a sister, Rachel
attended the dedication of �Rebecca Lobo
Way� in Southwick, Massachusetts. Once went for a jog with President Bill
Clinton during a visit to the White House
played the saxophone in high school
and was a member of the school band. Enjoys people with a sarcastic, witty sense
of humor and believes in finding humor in everything. Favorite movie is Shawshank
Redemption and her favorite book is Road Swing by Steve Rushin. She also married
Rushin and has a daughter.
