Many consider Lauren Jackson one of the premier female athletes of Australia.
The 6-5 forward-center is the only WNBA player on Australia's roster to compete
in two Olympic Games and two World Championships. She is looking for her first
gold medal after earning silver medals at the 2000 and 2004 Olympic Games and
bronze medals at the 1998 and 2002 World Championships.
Jackson was selected first overall by the Seattle Storm in the 2001 draft,
one year after averaging 15.9 points and 8.4 rebounds at the Sydney Olympic
games. She was voted the WNBA's Most Valuable Player in 2003 after leading the
league in scoring for the first time in her career. A year later she led the
league in scoring again and helped the Seattle Storm win their first WNBA championship.
Jackson has also been named to the All-WNBA first team three times and has played
in five All-Star Games.
