"This is a great opportunity for us to go out and paint ourselves in a way we want the
world to see us."

she enjoyed most about the promo shoot |

What
did the WNBA players enjoy the most about participating in the production
of this year's "This Is Who I Am" promotional spots? |
TAMIKA CATCHINGS
INDIANA FEVER
"I was very
excited to do this. It was an opportunity to see how we look from
a different side. Usually I get dressed, go play basketball and
come home. But for this, we got pampered and dressed up with make-up,
and then when you see yourself, you say 'I can't believe that's
me.' I was honored to represent the Indiana Fever and the WNBA."
|
LISA LESLIE
LOS ANGELES SPARKS
"I enjoy
these photoshoots because we don't have to practice or run suicide
sprints for Coach Cooper and because we get a lot of pampering.
I got a massage, I got my nails done, got a pedicure and my hair
done. And putting on a skirt and heels is not too bad either.
I just like being in front of the camera."
|
NYKESHA SALES
CONNECTICUT SUN
"Everytime
we get to do one of these shoots, it is a different experience.
I got to be on a beach playing with dogs and do some boxing this
time, which was a lot of fun. There were a lot of different girls
involved, and everyone has a different look and personality, which
made it interesting."
|
KATIE SMITH
MINNESOTA LYNX
"This was
my first glamour commercial photo shoot and I was glad to be a part
of it. It's nice when the fans get to see us out of the general
basketball setting and what we look like when we're all dressed
up. I think all of the players are pretty easy to deal with and
no one is high maintenance. It made me feel like a Hollywood star
in a small way."
|
NIKKI TEASLEY
LOS ANGELES SPARKS
"It was fun
to have a lot of girls around just relaxing and this is a good opportunity
for people to see another side to the female athlete. Just because
we like to play rough, we are still young women and it is good that
we get to show our true personalities from time to time.."
|
CHAMIQUE HOLDSCLAW
WASHINGTON MYSTICS
"It's great
to be one of the chosen ones that the WNBA wants to market. It is
exciting when everyone is together, picking out a wardrobe. It's
like a behind-the-scenes fature because you get to see people in
a different element. But mostly, we just like to socialize and see
how everyone else is doing."
