Washington Mystics foward Chamique Holdsclaw was voted by the fans as a starter for the 2002 WNBA All-Star Game, but was unable to play due to a high ankle sprain suffered during a June 28 game at Portland.
A four-time All-Star selection, Holdsclaw finished the 2002 regular season ranked first in the league in points and rebounds per game.
Holdsclaw started off 2003 with an impressive showing, setting a new WNBA single game record in her first game of the season as she pulled down 24 rebounds against the Sting on May 23. Not bad to go along with 22 points.
Mystics fans got some all too familiar news the following week, however, as Holdsclaw strained her harmstring during Washington's practice on June 3 and was placed on the injured list. According to league rules, she must stay on the injured list for at least three games.
All right, you make the call: it's up to you whether or not to vote Holdsclaw back into the starting lineup of this year's All-Star Game: Cast your vote.
