WNBA Community Partners

The WNBA has established WNBA Community Partners to develop national partnerships to be activated in local WNBA cities across the country. WNBA teams will offer WNBA Community partners a dedicated event in the arena with local promotions and exposure. The partnership will also be activated in the off-season. WNBA players, coaches and staff will reach out to our partners to motivate and inspire their participants all year round.

    Girl Scouts of the USA
    Girl Scouts of the USA, with a membership of 2.8 million girls ages 5-17, is the world's preeminent organization dedicated solely to girls. Through the GirlSports initiative, girls are provided with increased opportunities to participate in sports activities, to build teamwork and leadership skills, and to develop lifelong health and fitness habits.     Girls Incorporated (Girls Inc.)
    Girls Incorporated is a national nonprofit organization that inspires all girls to be Strong, Smart, and Bold�. With local roots dating to 1864 and national status since 1945, Girls Inc. has responded to the changing needs of girls and their communities through programs and advocacy that empower girls to reach their full potential and understand, value, and assert their rights. Girls Inc. programs focus on science, math, and technology, health and sexuality, economic and financial literacy, sports skills, leadership and advocacy, and media literacy for girls ages 6 to 18 throughout the United States. In 2001, Girls Inc. reached more than 900,000 girls through Girls Inc. affiliates, www.girlsinc.org, and educational products.

    Amateur Athletic Union (AAU)
    The AAU is the largest grassroots program for youth in the USA. 34 sports are offered for participation with over 500,000 participants. The largest sport, by participation, is Girls Basketball. While the AAU emphasizes "Sports for All", the AAU is well known for the above average athletes that participate. Within the WNBA, at least 80% of all WNBA players participated in the AAU program.     National Kids Day (NKD) - Boys & Girls Clubs of America
    Spending meaningful time with kids is essential - whether enjoying a basketball game, creating a family photo album or distributing toys to a children's hospital. Understanding the importance of this, Boys & Girls Clubs of America, with the support of other leading youth-serving organizations, has established National KidsDay. Held the first Sunday each August, National KidsDay is a day to celebrate and honor America's children by spending meaningful time with them. Mark your calendar for Sunday, August 4th and celebrate with the special children in your life.

    The WNBA has selected Sheryl Swoopes the National Spokesperson for National Kids Day.

    Police Athletic League (PAL)
    The National Association of Police Athletic Leagues is extremely excited about a collaboration with the WNBA that will allow PAL to bring women�s basketball to over 360 chapters and over 2 million kids nationwide. National PAL utilizes an after school juvenile crime prevention program that relies heavily upon athletics, recreational activities and education to help kids go right and stay right. With this partnership PAL and the WNBA will be sure to do that!

    Jewish Community Center Association (JCCA)
    JCC Association is the leadership network of, and central agency for the Jewish Community Center Movement, which is comprised of more than 275 JCCs, YM-YWHAs, and camps in the United States and Canada, which annually serve more than one million members and an additional million non-member users. JCC Association offers a wide range of services and resources to strengthen the capacity of its affiliates to provide educational, cultural, social, and recreational programs to enhance the lives of North American Jews of all ages and backgrounds. The JCC Movement accepts membership of any individuals regardless of religion, race, color, sex, national origin, citizenship, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or marital status.

    National Recreation & Parks Association (NRPA)
    Through its network of 24,000 recreation and park professionals and civic leaders, the National Recreation and Park Association encourages recreation initiatives for people of all ages, the promotion of healthy lifestyles, and the conservation of natural and cultural resources. NRPA stresses the value of recreation, active and passive, for individual growth and social well-being.     National Association of Senior Games (NASG)
    The National Senior Games Association promotes healthy lifestyles for seniors fifty years of age and older through education fitness and sports. The NSGA produces the world's largest multi-sport event for seniors � The Senior Olympics. In addition, the NSGA offers state and local programming in every state except Alaska and including the District of Columbia.

    State Games of America
    The State Games of America national championship is one of the largest amateur athletic events with more than 9,000 athletes from 44 states participating. Each state holds their own state games at which individuals qualify to participate at the national championship being held this August 7-10 in Hartford, CT. The WNBA has officially partnered with the State Games of America at the national level to facilitate activation at the local level between individual state games and WNBA teams in the form of State Games Nights at WNBA arenas.
