HOUSTON (March 6, 2008) � The Houston Comets have completed a trade to bring Megan Mahoney to Houston and send Barbara Turner to the Connecticut Sun, it was announced today by Head Coach & General Manager Karleen Thompson. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Mahoney played three seasons with the Sun, earning a career average of 2.2 points per game and making two playoff appearances with the team. Drafted by the Sun in the 2005 WNBA Draft, Mahoney went 34th overall in the third round.
A Kansas State University Wildcat prior to entering the WNBA, Mahoney completed her collegiate career with 589 assists, as the school�s all-time leader and the fifth-ranked player in Big 12 Conference history in that category. During the 2001-02 Wildcat season, she set the freshman record for most assists in a season with a total of 157, more than any Wildcat had notched in more than 10 years.
A 6-0 guard/forward, Turner joined the Comets midway through the 2007 season and played in 22 games and averaged 4.2 points per game. She spent one season with the Seattle Storm after being drafted in the first round (11th overall) in the 2006 WNBA Draft.
