August 7 - The Comets will be without the services of Tina Thompson when they battle the L.A. Sparks at STAPLES Center on Thursday. Thompson suffered a right hip contusion with 47 seconds remaining in Tuesday's win over the Cleveland Rockers when she was inadvertently kneed by Cleveland's Merlakia Jones. Thompson remained on the court for several seconds before Comets medical staff requested a stretcher to cart her to the locker room.

The Comets hope to have Thompson, who is listed as day-to-day, back in uniform Saturday when the Sacramento Monarchs pay a visit to Compaq Center.

�Obviously any time one of your teammates goes down like that, especially when you don�t know what is going on and they have to roll her out on a stretcher, you are thinking the worst," teammate Sheryl Swoopes said. "But I think they were all just the precautionary measures. She�s going to be fine and sore, and obviously we want her to be OK because we need Tina and I think everybody knows that.�
