Chamique Holdsclaw: I'm excited that the All-Star Game this year is in Washington, D.C., because I know the fans here, and I really support the franchise, the Washington Mystics. I know the turnout is going to be great. The fans in this area are really energetic. And they LOVE the WNBA.

Chamique Holdsclaw: Well, I am 24, and I started playing when I was like 11, so 13 years.

Question: Chamique, you�re awesome at basketball and I�m a big fan of basketball, so what could you say to me �bout gettin� into the WNBA???

Chamique Holdsclaw: Well, you just have to work hard, really discipline yourself. I don't know how old you are, but if you are real young, go to basketball camp and play games of basketball to get some exposure. Right now you can't play in the WNBA unless you graduate from college.

Question: Who was your biggest influence in sports?

Chamique Holdsclaw: My grandmother. She's been there since day one, since the day I started playing, and she always came to games.

Question: Chamique, you are a role model to me, being a young athlete myself. Do you have any advice to young female athletes?

Chamique Holdsclaw: Just go out there and be persistent, and realize that you are going to hit a wall sometimes -- things aren't always going to be great. I believe that the true mark of a successful person is someone who doesn't give up, and when they get knocked down, they get right up and try it again.
