WNBA
Players' 2007 NCAA Tournament Picks
The
madness is here... It is finally March and the WNBA Draft is just a few weeks
away. But before WNBA teams make their decisions, the top prospects have one last
chance to show their stuff. But more than just a scouting opportunity, the annual
NCAA college basketball tournament is an event and WNBA players are getting their
predictions in early and their brackets filled out for posterity.

-
I picked TN to win it all because it's my alma mater for 1, and because I think
that after the loss in the SEC Tourney they will get together as a team and figure
out what needs to be done to win come crunch time.
- I picked LSU to beat CT
in Elite 8 because LSU seems to have a more efficient running game.
- Duke
has been at the top all year, so I know they'll make it to the big game. Coach
G always has her team prepared to enter battles, and this year will be no different.
-
North Carolina will advance behind Ivory Latta. This is her last year to shine,
so I know she'll take full advantage of helping her team advance through the tourney.

I think Duke will probably be in it at the end, perhaps Tennessee and UCONN,
but I think that last spot is probably going to be a surprise.

Maryland - Defending champs with a ton of talent.
- Duke - A team with a lot

Tennessee
vs. UNC: Although I think North Carolina is top to bottom the more talented of
the two, I think Tennessee will come out on top in this one. I trust Candace Parker
to make big-time plays down the stretch as Tennessee's go-to player more than
I see Ivory Latta as that player for UNC. Tennessee also seems to have better
team chemistry and their high pressure defense will be too much for the turnover-prone
UNC.
UConn vs. Duke: Geno has his young talented players playing like
vets, but I'm going to put my money on the experience of Duke. You can't talk
about UConn without mentioning freshman post player Tina Charles, but Lindsay
Harding and Alison Bales have led this team all year. As the games get bigger
there is no substitute for senior leadership and the drive to get back to the
national championship game. The point guard match up between Harding and Renee
Montgomery of UConn will definitely be a good one to watch.
Duke vs. Tennessee:
Duke almost had a championship last year but as we all know, almost doesn't count
in the world of sports. They have a bad taste in their mouths from giving it away
last year and that will motivate them enough to go all the way in 2007. Floor
leader and POY candidate Lindsey Harding will help break the Tennessee defense.
If Duke can keep UT off the boards and somewhat contain Candace Parker, Gail Goestenkors
will finally be the one holding the trophy at the end.

I've
been impressed with Duke's run this year. They play extremely hard and they have
the players who make plays in the big games. Duke hasn't been able to get over
the hump these past few years but I believe that's way behind them. They have
a great triple threat in Harding, Bales, and Waner.
My team to watch is
Middle Tenn. St they surprised me with a win overGeorgia and a close one against
Maryland.
Of course I had to roll with my alma mater as Champs! I feel we
have a great team not to mention the best player in College Basketball (Parker)
and the legendary Pat Summitt. Other players just have to step up and make plays
we know who our go to players are we just need a great supporting cast. We must
also play tough defense! Go Lady Vols.

would probably have to see Tenessee, Duke, North Carolina, and I have to say UCONN."

"I think Maryland is going to be up there
again, I definitely would say Duke, probably I could see Candace Parker taking
her team pretty far, and I think the fourth is going to be a surprise."

"I like Georgia, Tennessee, LSU
and Temple."
Cappie Pondexter, Phoenix Mercury
"Rutgers
will be great during the tourney. I have faith in those girls. Also Coach Stringer
will have them prepared. During the tourney, it's about great defense and teamwork.
They have the abiltiy to make it to the final 4!! My top four coming in are Rutgers,
UConn, Duke and UNC."
