TULSA’S WNBA FRANCHISE UNVEILS ITS NAME: THE SHOCK
After months of anticipation, the new WNBA Tulsa franchise officially unveiled its identity today with the announcement of the new team name, logo and colors. The new franchise will be named the Tulsa Shock and its colors black, red and gold. The logo features a basketball on top of “Tulsa Shock” with a lightning bolt through it. The “Tulsa” lettering has an Art Deco inspiration which was influenced by the city’s rich history in Art Deco architecture. Read More


TULSA HIRES SWETOHA AS TEAM PRESIDENT
Tulsa’s new WNBA franchise has named Steve Swetoha as president. Swetoha has spent his entire career with sports franchises, including the Charlotte Sting of the WNBA (2003-05), a franchise whose front office and business operations he constructed in five months.

He also spent time with the Charlotte Bobcats (2005-07) and Orlando Magic of the NBA (1998-2000), the Jacksonville Jaguars of the NFL (2000-02) and the Pittsburgh Penguins of the NHL (1985-94). Most recently, Swetoha was executive director of the Charlotte (N.C.) Regional Sports Commission and executive director of the local organizing committee for the ACC Football Championship (2008-present). 2010 TULSA SCHEDULE RELEASED
Tulsa will open the 2010 season at home on Saturday, May 15 against the Minnesota Lynx. In fact, six of Tulsa's first seven games are at the BOK Center, including a May 25 match-up against the reigning WNBA champions, the Phoenix Mercury. Full Schedule


TULSA PICKS SCHOLANDA ROBINSON IN DISPERSAL DRAFT
Tulsa used the seventh pick in the Dispersal Draft of the Sacramento Monarchs to select guard Scholanda Robinson. The fourth-year player has spent her entire career with the Monarchs, where she started 53 of the 130 games she participated in. Last season, Robinson averaged 6.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1 steal per game.

Robinson was selected 14th overall by the Monarchs in the 2006 WNBA Draft. She ranks 15th all-time on LSU's career scoring list. Read More
