Sun Set Sail On Sabino

Check out video from the trip HERE.

On Thursday, September 3rd, four Connecticut Sun players and fans went aboard the 101-year-old Mystic Seaport steamboat Sabino for a sunset cruise.

Fans were able to meet Lindsay Whalen, Asjha Jones, Erin Phillips, and Sandrine Gruda up close and personal. The players mingled with the fans, answered questions, signed autographs and took pictures while enjoying a 90-minute cruise that traveled through the Mystic Bascule Bridge, to the mouth of the Mystic River, and back. Soft drinks and light hors d’oeuvres were also available for those on board.

Sabino, which was built in 1908, is a registered National Historic Landmark, one of four in the Museum’s collection. It is the last coal-fired steamboat in operation in the country.

The cruise was part of Mystic Seaport’s initiative to raise awareness and funds for a new project launched by the Museum that would ensure all that fourth graders in New London County are able to visit Mystic Seaport during the academic school year.
