Sun Overseas Report - Week 7
Things are heating up for a number of Connecticut Sun players who are in action overseas.
In EuroLeague action, Sandrine Gruda had 16 points, six rebounds and one block while Asjha Jones added eight points, two rebounds and one assist as UMMC Ekaterinberg defeated Cras Basket Taranto 73-42 on December 9th.
That same day, Anete Jekabsone-Zogota collected seven points, two assists and one rebound and one steal as Spartak Moscow defeated Szeviep 94-51 while Amber Holt and her MBK Euroleasing Sopron teammates fell to KSSSE AZS-PWSZ Gorzow 79-72. The Sun forward had seven points, two rebounds and two assists in the loss for Sopron.
Also in EuroLeague action on December 9th, Lotos Gdynia fell to Tarbes GB 81-67 as Erin Phillips had eight rebounds, three assists and two points in the loss. On December 10th, Lindsay Whalen had 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and one steal as USK Prague fell to Rivas Ecopolis 94-56.
In Spain, Kiesha Brown had seven points, two rebounds and two assists as Argon Uni Girona fell to Mann Filter Zaragoza, 66-55, on December 5th. That same day, Kerri Gardin scored 10 points, grabbed six rebounds and dished out three assists as Cadi La Seu D’Urgell fell to Rivas Ecopolis 83-77.
In Russian League action, Jekabsone-Zogota scored 19 points, grabbed three rebounds and three steals as Spartak defeated Dynamo Moscow 117-67 on December 7th. Chante Black had a double-double with 14 rebounds and13 points to go along with one block as Tarsus Belediyesi defeated BSB Kagit Spor 82-53 in Turkish League action on December 6th.
In the Czech Republic, Whalen had four assists and two rebounds as USK Prague defeated Strakonia 104-60 on December 5th in Czech League action. That same day, Holt scored 10 points, pulled down seven rebounds and grabbed one steal as Sopron fell to Szeviep Szeged 85-73 in Hungarian League action. On December 6th, Phillips had 13 points, five rebounds and two assists as Lotos fell to KSSSE ASZ PWSZ Gorzow 75-69.
