Sun Announce 2014 Schedule

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (February 6, 2014) — The Connecticut Sun will tip off its 12th season in the state with a home game at Mohegan Sun Arena against the rival New York Liberty on Friday, May 16th at 7 p.m.

The Sun play just two home regular season games in May – the second is against Sue Bird and the Seattle Storm at 7 p.m. on May 23rd – and 10 of the 17 regular season home games will be played on Friday, Saturday or Sunday.

“We are pleased to be able to finally provide a schedule to our fans who have been waiting patiently,” Connecticut Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. “Now that the ownership situation in Los Angeles has been resolved with yesterday’s exciting announcement, we look forward to the upcoming season, which really begins for us when we make the first pick in the 2014 WNBA Draft.”

Connecticut opens the month of June with a four-game homestand highlighted by a matchup with Diana Taurasi, Brittney Griner and the Phoenix Mercury on June 12th at 7 p.m. Elena Delle Donne and the Chicago Sky also visit Mohegan Sun Arena on June 25th.

The Sun are on the road for eight of 12 games in July, but those four home games include the Los Angeles Sparks and Candace Parker on July 13th and the defending champion Minnesota Lynx – led by Maya Moore, Seimone Augustus and Lindsay Whalen – on July 27th.

August home dates are highlighted by another matchup with the Sky on August 5th, and a season-ending meeting with the defending Eastern Conference champion Atlanta Dream on August 17th.

The Sun will face Chicago and Washington five times each, traveling three times to face the Sky while visiting the Mystics twice. Connecticut is home for four of its last five Eastern Conference games.

Connecticut has just two back-to-backs this season, but faces some challenging stretches. The Sun visit Minnesota and Chicago in May, play five games in 10 days to start July, make their first West Coast road trip to Seattle and Phoenix later in July, then visit San Antonio and Los Angeles during a three-day swing in August.
