In Spain, Asjha Jones had 17 points and one rebound on February 1st, but it was not enough as Rivas Ecopolis fell to Tranto in EuroLeague action. The Sun forward is averaging 18.1 points and 8.7 rebounds for the Spanish side in EuroLeague action. On February 8th, Jones had 11 points and eight rebounds in a 81-62 Spanish League loss to Perfumerias. In 17 Spanish games, she is averaging 15.1 points and 7.7 rebounds.
Sun center Tina Charles had 23 points and six rebounds but Galatasaray Medical Park fell to Ros Casares in EuroLeague play on February 1st. She is averaging 18.5 points and 8.6 rebounds in 14 EuroLeague games for the Turkish side and 15.0 points to go along with 9.6 rebounds in 17 Turkish League games. Most recently, Charles scored eight points and pulled down 10 rebounds in a 81-65 loss at Fenerbahce on February 8th.
The newest member of the Sun, Mistie Mims, is averaging 19.7 points and 7.7 rebounds in 18 games for French side Challes-les-Eaux. She recently earned EuroBasket.com Player of the Week honors after a 30 point, four rebound, two assist performance in a 80-79 victory over Aix-en-Provence on February 4th.
Danielle McCray is averaging 15.8 points and 4.9 rebounds in 14 EuroLeague games for Good Angels Kosice in Slovakia. Most recently, she had eight points and six rebounds in a 79-57 victory over Frisco Sika Brno. In Slovakian League action, the Sun guard is averaging 14.7 points and 3.8 rebounds in 10 games.
In Israel, Kelsey Griffin is averaging 16.8 points and 9.2 rebounds in 12 games for Maccabi Ramat Hen. On February 6th, she picked up a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds in a 76-69 victory over Raanana Hertzeliya. Also in Israel is Jessica Breland, who is averaging 12.8 points and 7.8 rebounds in 14 games for Ramat Hasharon. The forward had 14 points and 11 rebounds in a 82-70 victory over Hapoel Petah Tikva on February 6th.
Three other Sun players have recently headed overseas for the remainder of the offseason. Guard Allison Hightower went back to France, where she spent the 2010-11 offseason, and will be playing for Basket Landes. She is expected to see her first action for the French squad on February 12th.
Also heading overseas recently were Renee Montgomery and Kalana Greene. Montgomery is in Turkey with Tarsus Belediyesi, averaging 11.5 points and 3.0 assists in two games. On February 8th she had eight points and three assists in a 75-61 victory over Ceyhan. Greene is now playing in Israel for Raanana Hertzeliya, where she is averaging 6.5 points and 4.5 rebounds in two contests. On February 6th, the Sun guard had 11 points and seven rebounds in a losing effort, 76-69, to Maccabi Ramat Hen.
