

Connecticut Sun point guard Lindsay Whalen will join the 2008 USA Basketball Women’s National Team on its Tour of Spain, from March 14-20th. The Tour, which includes games against top EuroLeague pro teams like Ros Casares and Perfumerias Avenida – ranked first and second, respectively in the Spanish League – will serve as one of the final major tune-ups for the Summer Olympics in Beijing in August.
Whalen will join a team that includes Seimone Augustus, Swin Cash, Katie Douglas, Katie Feenstra, Lindsey Harding, Janel McCarville, DeLisha Milton-Jones, Cappie Pondexter and Katie Smith. The U.S. National Team will play Ros Casares in Valencia on March 17th and Perfumerias Avenida in Salamanca on March 20th.
Whalen is currently playing for ZVVZ Prague in the Czech Republic, averaging 14.9 points, 5.7 rebounds and 3.6 assists per game.
Connecticut Sun coach Mike Thibault is an assistant on the staff of USA Basketball Women’s National Team head coach Anne Donovan.
The U.S. team will have one final training camp before the 2008 WNBA season tips off, working out in Chicago from April 13-16 prior to traveling to China for the Good Luck Beijing Tournament, which will run from April 19-27.
