To give you a little update as to how things are going so far for him, I hear he is the fastest player in baseball, has a great arm, and is very cocky for a player his age. But until the real games start we can't tell. So, we will all have to just wait and see how things start. The opening game is ironically against the Torii Hunter and the Angels this evening. I will be watching.
You are probably wondering why there is a picture of me in front of a Starbucks. Of course back home it is no big deal because some kind of coffee shop seems to be on almost every corner. But just recently in Prague they have opened three different Starbucks coffee shops and a fourth one is coming to the airport. They do have a place called "Coffeeheaven" which is good but it isn't the same, of course. The other coffee houses just serve the shots of espresso, which I don't really like that much. So we don't go there much. Ben and I thought it was a pretty big deal having another place that we were familiar with and reminded us of home. So there you have the picture. Not that we haven't had enough of coffee from the states though! We have been getting shipments of Dunkin Donuts coffee, my personal favorite, from home!
Well the last two weeks or so were pretty crazy around here. There was the Euroleague All-Star game in Moscow for about four days. Travel time and everything considered, it felt like I was there for a whole week. The "Rest of the World" team lost to the "Europe" team by a lot! It helped that they had practice and set up a few plays to run. They had a great scorer who was on fire in Spain's Amaya Valderamo. Who, by the way, won a car for winning the MVP! It was fun catching up with different players from around the WNBA and Europe.
Then I flew back here to Prague for our Czech Cup. This is a four team weekend tournament in which we finished second to Gambrinus BRNO which is Tamika Whitemore's team. So, we have gotten to play against each other four or five times already this season and we still have the playoffs. I can't wait until this Summer when we are on the same team! I was there for two days and the night of the game flew to Spain to join the US National team for a week long camp. I could only make it for four days but I got to play in the games, so that was fun! My bags came a day late, that made the first night there very interesting. I managed and had a great time there with the team. We won both games, but they were very well contested games and the second game went into overtime. It was a great finish!
Anyways, now I am back after the traveling and games and bags arriving late and we are getting ready for the Czech playoffs that start this weekend. Hopefully we keep things going and make a solid run into the Finals! Only a few weeks until the start of Sun training camp. Can't wait for the start of the season!
