Sunrise Tip Off at Sun

What better way to tip off the new season than over some scrumptious breakfast! The Connecticut Sun held its first annual Tip Off Breakfast to benefit the Connecticut Sun Foundation at the Mohegan Sun Convention center. Fans purchased tickets and participated in auctions during the event, all proceeds from which go into the Foundation’s bank.

MC for the morning was Sun GM, Chris Sienko. Sienko amused the crowd with his humorous comments and announced the extension of the entire coaching staff’s contracts.

Those in attendance were able to preview the team’s new opening video for 2008. The video culminated in loud cheers throughout the room.

Mohegan Sun and Connecticut Sun CEO, Mitchell Etess was next up to share his thoughts on the team and its successes and to introduce WNBA president Donna Orender.

Orender spoke to the league’s successes, its challenges and its future. She spoke about what wonderful fans we have here in Connecticut for women’s basketball. Donna announced that the WNBA would be donating $1,000 to the Connecticut Sun foundation in honor of its fans.

After devouring their stuffed friend toast and Eggs Benedict fans were able to ask questions of Lindsay Whalen, Tamika Whitmore and Coach T in a special Q and A. The questions ranged from officiating to rivalries.
