Connecticut Sun players were on both sides of a crucial FIBA EuroLeague Women Group A game recently as Taj McWilliams-Franklin’s Gambrinus Brno team rolled to an 80-56 victory over the Lietuvos Telekomas squad led by Katie Douglas.

McWilliams-Franklin had 18 points and 18 rebounds for Gambrinus Brno, which took over first place in the Group with the victory. Douglas scored 11 points for Lietuvos Telekomas. Sun rookie Jen Derevjanik, who also plays for Lietuvos Telekomas, was held scoreless in 18 minutes. Both McWilliams-Franklin and Douglas are off to fast starts with their respective teams. McWilliams-Franklin is averaging 14.2 points and 9.2 rebounds through five games while Douglas scored 21 or more points in her first four games before being held to 11 in the loss to Gambrinus Brno. In FIBA Europe Cup, meanwhile, Sun rookie Candace Futrell has averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game through the first four games of the season for Ramat Hasharon of Israel. Futrell is also averaging 2.5 assists per game.

Sun rookie forward Le’Coe Willingham is also doing well in Israel, averaging 18.7 points and 7.9 rebounds per game for Bnei Yehuda.
