Sales Signs New Contract

UNCASVILLE, CT. (February 8, 2006) — The Connecticut Sun announced today it has signed Nykesha Sales to a two-year contract.

Per team policy, no terms were released.

“I’m really happy about continuing my career with the Connecticut Sun,” Sales said. “We have done some great things in the last three years, and I am excited about trying to bring a WNBA Championship to my home state.”

Sales is the Sun’s all-time leading scorer, and one of the most accomplished players in WNBA history. Last season, she became just the second WNBA player to reach 3,000 points, 500 assists and 400 steals, joining Sheryl Swoopes. Sales is also one of just three players in WNBA history to have appeared in every WNBA All Star game, joining Lisa Leslie and Chamique Holdsclaw.

“We are thrilled to have her back as we continue our quest for a championship,” coach Mike Thibault said. “Kesh has been an integral part of everything we’ve done since this franchise has been in Connecticut. Her growth as a player, a person and a leader has been a significant factor in our success.”

A 29-year-old Bloomfield native, Sales has played in all 230 regular season franchise games, with 160 straight starts. Including the postseason, she has played in 253 games.
