Connecticut Sun guard Katie Douglas is playing for S.U. Glyfada Esperides Kyklos, based in Athens, Greece. One of five Sun players competing overseas, Katie will be writing occasional diary entries about her experiences.
I am currently over here in Athens, Greece. This is my second year in Athens, and I am enjoying this year even better. I really like the team that Iím playing on, and I am living in a great spot. I live about 20 minutes from downtown Athens, but I like where I live especially because I am right next to the Aegean Sea. Additionally, within minutes of walking, I can eat at Fridays, Applebees, Pizza Hut, Starbucks, and many other great American cuisines. That part makes life very easy having the beach at my feet and food to fill my stomach.
We have already started our Greek League and we compete in the FIBA Cup. We actually have our second game tomorrow here in Greece for our European League against a team from Turkey. We won last week against a team from Skopia. We went to Skopia, a.k.a. the FYRUM, and it was an interesting place. It is a lot of fun playing in the FIBA Cup because you are able to travel and see other parts of the world that you might have never dreamed of.
That is all for now. I am on my way out the door for practice. Hope everyone back home is well. I will be back in touch in the near future.
