Conversing with Carey from Colorado

Sun guard Jamie Carey checks in with the Sun from her home in Colorado in the off-season. She shares news of a new family member!

Hello again!

It’s been a while since I have checked in and so much has happened! I have been hanging out in Colorado since the season ended, enjoying my job, my amazing family and overall life.

As most of you know, I don’t play in the typical overseas season as most do in the WNBA. I have been again working for Triple Crown Sports in Colorado during the off season. I have had my growing pains in the “real world”, but have greatly enjoyed the experience and all of my co-workers. I have learned how fortunate I am to be able to work in such a positive working environment!

There has been a huge development during this off season for me. This coming summer when I am asked who my favorite team is; the Yankees or the Red Sox, I can now answer the COLORADO ROCKIES without being the laughing stock of the arena! Who knew we were so good this year?!? They even surprised us hometown fans I must say! It was evident no one understood how good they were because the process to get tickets was a MESS. It was a lot of fun to see the state of Colorado embrace the Rockies. There was more purple in Colorado during the World Series than the Kansas State campus could ever provide..and we all know they have a lot of purple! Meg that’s your shout out buddy! 

Probably the most exciting news I have is that I am now a proud mother of an 11 week old puppy. Being the big softie I am when it comes to animals; I couldn’t pass her up. She is a Rat Terrier/Shih Tzu mix, named Dani and weighs about 4 ½ pounds. It has been a challenge potty training her because of the cold weather, but she’s been nothing but a joy! My other dog is a 5 ½ year old Rat Terrier/Chihuahua mix, which has made for no dull moments.

Well, that should about catch everyone up with me. I’m excited, just as all of you are, for the upcoming season. Should be a fun one!

Until Then…

Jamie
