On what it means to be the player that was targeted by head coach Mike Thibault from the start:
“He saw something in me that can help in their system. Me being the player that he wanted was great. It means a lot that a WNBA coach wants you that bad. I just can’t explain how happy I am that he would be like that.”
How would you describe your perimeter shooting?
“I’m more of a put-it-on-the-floor-get-inside type of player. I can shoot it outside, but I prefer driving.”
On if she thinks she can be effective offensively immediately for the Sun:
“Sure. Wherever he puts me, I’ll do whatever he wants me to do, at any position.”
Does the defensive intensity of the league phase you?
“Not really. My college team, we beat up on each other, so it’s fine with me to come out and be hard nosed.”
Talk about what you have seen of the Sun and how you could fit in with them:
“I’ve seen them a little, last year. About me fitting in, I can play the two or the three for them. I can definitely be a scorer for them and play defense for them, so I can be a good contributor to the Sun.”
When did you believe you had a chance to play in the WNBA?
Probably about mid-season. I got better and I told myself to work on some things.
How do you think you will fit in with the Sun?
“I think I just want to go in and learn and be that same person that I’ve been. Push the ball up the floor.”
Were you nervous?
“I was actually anxious. I wasn’t nervous. I was excited to see where I’d end up and just surprised when I heard my name called in the first round.”
