John from West Hartford, CT I was just wondering what players are on the team next year and what players are free agents after the playoffs end? John, you should consider all players on the team until we make a change. That said, there are several UFA's (unrestricted free agents) that include Margo, Katie and Nykesha. These folks have the right to negotiate with any team, unless we designate them as a CORE player, which means, they can not negotiate with any other team. Currently, we are able to CORE two players, but that could change with the new Collective Bargaining Agreement. |

Philip from Lakeville, MN What does Lindsay Whalen need to do to prove that she is the team leader? She is putting up the numbers on court 17% efficiency, leading the Sun, and offense runs through her. She’s one of the top ten fiercest and focused competitors in the league. She got shut out of the All-Star game. Honestly, what does she need to do to go to the next level. Go Sun, get ‘em next year. Philip - or shall i call you Mr. Whalen (just kidding all of you who take the time to read this), I agree that Lindsay is worthy of recognition. She is a team leader, she is in the top five of most statistical categories in the league for her position and quite honestly, I can only think of one or two players that can truly compete with her at this position. To answer your question, Lindsay just needs to keep on doing what she does. Look how long it took KT and Asjha to be recognized. Lindsay has led this team to the playoffs each year, including two trips to the Finals - not bad for someone who is not at 'that level'. |

Danielle from Alexandria, IN I absolutely love Margo and was very disappointed that she didn't play very much in the 2nd half of the 3rd game against Indiana on 8/27. Did she receive an injury during that game that the crowd didn't witness? No injury - its match-ups. Depending upon the other team and the players in rotation, certain players are a better fit in a given circumstance. Margo is a great match-up with Tammy Sutton-Brown, however, she is not a good match-up for Tamika Whitmore. In a game of ups and downs, needs vary from minute-to-minute and game-to-game. Margo is fine, long live Margo! |

Georgianna from West Haven, CT When are we going to see more young U.S. college players on the team? I think we have plenty of excellent young talent in this country...let's see them here! Also core players on this team should begin with Katie and Ashja.

Elizabeth from Agawam, MA How about adding a third mascot? I suggest a name of Glow or Ember... #1 and one half to honor the spirit of the 'mature fans', the 'grey hairs'. Blaze can continue to represent the competitive spirit in its prime and Flicker the spirit of play in young fans. Elizabeth - a third mascot? Do you know what it is like picking up after two mascots now? I have fur everywhere, jerseys thrown on the floor and smelly socks from some really big feet.....how can I handle a third? And don't forget the "Air Blaze" who made limited appearances this year....he is hard to handle on his own. I have to talk to the troops and see what will come of this idea...thank you!

Amy from Versailles, CT Are you ever nervous about the players choking on their chewing gum during the games? Mom always told me to be careful when I'm chewing, to not lay on my back, etc, or else I might choke. KT Douglas gets knocked around onto her back a lot during games. Does Lindsay know the Heimlich maneuver, just in case? OK, this is one of my college buddies playing a trick on me, I know it....but anyway, you should know that I personally know the heimlich maneuver and CPR - as do others on my staff and certainly the trainers, security and emergency personnel in the arena. That said, I have never prepared myself to run on the court in this situation. So, that said, while Lindsay is getting married in a few weeks I am going to suggest that she take some classes in case this does in fact happen. In fact, I will have to ensure that all of the players know it just in case they happen to be on the floor with Katie at just such a moment. |
