Before I take off I wanted to share with you my thoughts and experiences while living my dream and playing in the WNBA.
After a slow start getting here with the love and help of my VISA, I arrived into Connecticut blurry-eyed after it took what seemed like forever to get here! However there was no down time for me or time to myself to get settled, it was get-up-and-go right from touch down. Within a couple of days here in the States, I was on a plane on the way over to the West Coast playing the preseason games. Another time zone change!!
Before I knew it the season was under-way. I got to see some amazing cities. My favourites include Seattle, Chicago and New York. In Seattle, I took off for a stroll and went down to the Fisherman's Markets, which are situated next to the breathtaking scenic waterfront, where cafes and shops lined the pretty streets.
Chicago, "The Windy City", was beautiful. Amongst the trainings and games, I managed to find myself on top of the John Hancock Building looking over the amazing views that stretched far and wide over Chicago from 94 floors. Incredible!
New York, New York. What can I say? I had always imagined what the city would be like and it was everything I expected it to be and a whole lot more! I honestly can say that I have never seen so many people in one place at the same time. I have never seen so many taxi cabs (except on the series Sex and the City) and I have never seen so many hot dog/ pretzel stands. There is one literally on every corner. Pizza in New York is to die for and I wish that I could take some home so that everyone could try it and know what I am talking about! We stayed right on Times Square which was so much fun. The first night I got to New York I headed to the famous Rays Pizza Shop and then to the Broadway show "Beauty and the Beast." I have never experienced anything like Broadway! It was great!
These are just a few places that stick in my mind but I have seen so many great sights while being over here in America. Although we finished the season without a championship I have had an absolute fantastic rookie experience.
I am currently packing up my things and shipping them home (since I won¡¦t be travelling home just yet). Soon I'll be preparing to TAKE ON MIKE T :) in next month's World Championships in Brazil. Once again this will be a great experience and the level of International competition will be at the highest I have ever competed in while representing Australia! It will be great!
After the Worlds, I am happy to inform everyone that I will be going back to the "Land Down Under." I can't wait to get back to Adelaide and see everyone especially my two twin nieces, Ashlee and Chloe and my new nephew, Ky, who were all born while I was here in the States!! Also, I will be playing in Adelaide for the Lightning which gets underway in October! No rest for the wicked as they say, but I am excited to be playing back home!!
I just wanted to say thank you to everyone, especially the fans that have made it a very warm welcoming for me here in Connecticut. And also those who supported the team and got out and saw a live game because without your voices in the crowd, we would not have had such a successful year!
