The Connecticut Sun tipped off its 2005 Girls’ High School Basketball Tour Wednesday night, visiting Waterford High School, where the Lancers hosted Norwich Free Academy in a key Eastern Connecticut Conference showdown.Despite an untimely snowstorm that caused traffic delays all over the state, a large crowd was on hand at Waterford. Before the game, Connecticut Sun point guard Lindsay Whalen and forward Jess Brungo signed autographs, posed for photos and chatted with fans.
At halftime, Lindsay, Jess and ‘Blaze,’ awarded raffle prizes, including Sun tickets, an autographed basketball and an autographed picture. Both players also addressed the crowd, and Sun t-shirts were tossed into the stands.
The Connecticut Sun’s tour of the area continues next Tuesday, January 25th, at Norwich Free Academy. The Wildcats will host Windham in a game that tips off at 7 p.m.
