On Monday, May 16, the Connecticut Sun unveiled its new court during a scrimmage for season ticket holders at Mohegan Sun Arena. Check out some facts about the new court, as well as some photos.

Type of wood: First Grade MFMA Hardwood MAPLE

Weight of floor: 42,000 LBS

Number of pieces: 232 total pieces. 218 are four-by-eight feet; 14 are four-by-four.

Layers of clear coat: Four coats of World Class Polo Plaz clear finish.

Layers of paint under the clear coat: It varies. Two or three coats in some spots, just one coat in other places.

Length of time required to paint and finish the floor: A floor generally takes between two and 2 Ĺ weeks. Because of the large amount of detail on this floor, it took about five weeks to complete.

How many floors does the company build in a given year? About 35

Who else have they built floors for? University of Oregon, NCAA FINAL FOUR including 1/2/3 rounds, Menís and Womenís Regionals and the Championship Courts. Golden State Warriors, Oklahoma City Thunder, Philadelphia 76ers and Atlanta Hawks.

How is it put together? This floor is connected with a steel tongue-and-groove system with panels locked into place with quick pins. It is state of the art.
