Hoops For Troops

In conjunction with WNBA Hoops For Troops, the Connecticut Sun hosted Military Appreciation Night during the game Friday evening against the Seattle Storm at Mohegan Sun Arena.

The highlight of the evening was a halftime swearing-in ceremony involving 65 men and women who took the oath of enlistment, administered by Commander Justin A. Long, Executive Officer of the Naval recruiting district, New England. These men and women will be serving in the Army, Navy or Air Force.

The Mohegan Tribal Color Guard and the U.S. Navy Silver Dolphins presented the colors before the game.

“We are honored to have the opportunity to recognize the people who keep us safe,” Connecticut Sun Vice President and General Manager Chris Sienko said. “Particularly on this weekend, it is important that we remember those who protect our country with their service.”
