Danielle Checks In From The Road
Hello there good fans!
The season is about half way over and the road games have been rolling back to back. There are times when I enjoy traveling and there are times when catching flights and checking into different hotels can be tough adjusting your body to. With that said, my first part of the season has been filled with a lot of away games; it feels like multiple road games every other day. Traveling at this level is a bit different from my collegiate years at KU. For instance, we wake up in Connecticut; then we practice in Connecticut; then we go right from the gym to the airport and fly to the city where we play. On average, my teammates and I go through this routine every two to three days. It can be hectic. We have to be extremely patient in the airports, dealing with security, possibly having extra long delays and flight changes. But so far, we have dealt with it fine, better than I expected. All in all, our flights have been going fairly well - the delays have not been that bad for us. Knock on wood!
It’s always nice to visit other places, shop, and see new faces. I love shopping, so every time we go out of town for games I tend to get the sudden urge to spend money and buy things. I know splurging may not be so good for my pockets but sometimes I can't fight the urge. Recently, we took a three game road trip to Minnesota, Indiana and New York. While in Minnesota I shopped until I dropped at Mall of America. It was fun to finally get the chance to check that out. I always heard about it but I finally got to witness the hype. While in Indiana I got to hang out with friends and in New York I also spent quality time with family in the city. So road games are fun but the travel can be exhausting. But I wouldn’t trade this life for anything. I am blessed and thankful!!!
Our last road trip was my first experience leaving one city and going to the next back to back. It was a long trip and by the last game I was ready to lie in my OWN bed in Connecticut. There is nothing like your own place!!! Coming up very soon we have the West Coast trip!!! I’m ready to take this one on and add more wins to our record!!!
Until next time, keep cheering for the SUN!!
