Danielle Checks In

December is finally here!!

Time has flown by so fast, and so much has happened since I last blogged.

I'd like to begin by wishing everyone a happy belated Thanksgiving!! I hope you all enjoyed the time spent with your family and friends. I must admit that Thanksgiving in Slovakia this year was very tough for me. Specifically, being away from my family and friends was not easy, but Iím always thankful for my opportunities. Even though I was not state side to celebrate, I certainly ate well! There is a ďU.S. Steel CorporationĒ facility located here in Kosice, Slovakia, and there are several American employees, who invited our American players to a formal Thanksgiving dinner that turned out to be very nice.

My family was able to Skype me during the whole Thanksgiving celebration which helped to make me feel like I was a part of the traditions at home.

Basketball in November was quite interesting. Our group had a few upsets, and we played some good basketball. We are doing fairly well. We recently lost two players, one due to injury and the other one decided to not play anymore. Even while dealing with those losses, our team has still found a way to stay together and keep playing hard. We are 9-0 in the Slovakian league and 4-4 in the Euroleague, so things are coming together for us.

Next week we head to Spain to battle Asjha Jonesís team at home. We are 1-0 against them, and looking forward to another win at their place. Iím also excited to visit Spain for the first time. One thing I love about my season this year is all the traveling we've done. I have been to so many countries even in the last month alone. My favorite country to thus far is Italy.

Now that December is here, the countdown has begun!! We have five more games until I get to see my family. Christmas is coming soon, and nothing compares to being home with family. I missed one holiday (Thanksgiving), but this Christmas will make up for it!

So until then Iím signing off!!
