Connecticut Signs Yelena Leuchanka

UNCASVILLE, Conn. (April 24, 2014) – The Connecticut Sun announced Thursday it has signed 6-foot-5 center Yelena Leuchanka to a one-year contract.

As per team policy, terms were not released.

“I am excited to add Yelena to our post game,” Sun coach Anne Donovan said. “With a young roster, Yelena’s valuable experience, both internationally and in the WNBA, will be an asset for us. At 6-5, I like her versatility, her ability to play inside or away from the basket and her size.”

Leuchanka has played a total of 61 games in the WNBA, including 19 with the Atlanta Dream in 2012. She also appeared in 32 games for the Dream in 2010, averaging 4.2 points and 2.6 rebounds in an average of 10.6 minutes per game. Leuchanka also had short stints with the Charlotte Sting in 2006 and the Washington Mystics in 2007.
