Turner Visits Fair Haven School
| On Monday, March 17th, Connecticut Sun guard/forward Barbara Turner read to a group of second and third graders at Fair Haven School in New Haven, Conn., for a Reading Time Out, part of the Read To Achieve initiative. Turner, who joined the Sun in a trade from Houston for Megan Mahoney on March 6th, read "Salt In His Shoes: Michael Jordan in Pursuit of a Dream," written by Delores Jordan and Roslyn Jordan, to the 43 assembled students. Barbara invited three of the kids up to read with her. After the book was completed Turner quizzed the students for some fun Sun prizes. Then it was time for the students to ask questions of her. Barbara was asked questions such as "What's the best thing that's ever happened to you? What was the first team you ever played against? What's your favorite food?".
The students, many of whom were dressed in green to celebrate St. Patrick's Day, all received a bookmark with the Read To Achieve Pledge, which they read aloud along with Barbara. At the end of the event, each member of the two classes in attendance were given Barbara's autograph, as well as a bag of Connecticut Sun goodies and a book.
