Sun Players Visit Schools Tops in Reading

Recently The Connecticut Sun sponsored a Newspaper In Education (NIE) program called Reading 4 Rebounds in conjunction with the New London Day. This program provided thousands of students in our region with newspapers and supporting curriculum to use as additional learning tools within the classroom environment.

Those schools that participated in the Reading 4 Rebounds had an opportunity to also join in on the Connecticut Sun’s Read to Achieve: All Star Reading Challenge. Thirty-six schools participated in the challenge, which consisted of students keeping track of their reading minutes outside of class.

The three schools with the highest reading average earned a special reading pep rally including appearances by Sun players, mascot and dance team!

C.B. Jennings School, Moriarty School and Mohegan School were the winning readers!
