The Sun was shining on over 500 attendees on December 18th at United Congregational Church in Norwich. The Connecticut Sun helped to sponsor the Kids’ Christmas Party, aimed at bringing holiday cheer to less fortunate children.
Liz Hall founded the Kids’ Christmas Toy Fund when she took a second job to ensure that no child was overlooked during the holiday season. This year was the 15th party and has grown from serving about 10 kids in year one to around 450 last year. This year’s has been the most successful and well attended to date.
Sun forward Brooke Wyckoff, Coach “T” and Blaze made appearances and took photos with the kids. Let’s not forget the most important special guest. Santa was on hand for the entire party.
Earlier in the month the Sun held a toy drive (helped out by Debbie Black), purchased a number of toys to donate and wrapped (and wrapped) them all before delivering the gifts into the hands of some great kids.
Sun Staffers were on hand to help out with serving pizza and snacks. They also helped out with some arts and crafts projects.
The party was a great success and there were many precious smiles on little faces. What better holiday gift could there be than the sight of a happy child?
